Toya knows that men, unlike women, avoid following many steps before they go out, and they prefer minimalism which makes them buy and use fewer products than women.
Toya dermatologists’ team is here to help you with a simple and straightforward skincare routine to follow, as you’ll find in this blog tips that will help you boost your skin’s health without spending too much time and money.
1- Start your day right.
To make sure your skincare routine starts right, choose your cleanser wisely.
It’s known that men’s skin is thicker and more oily than women’s skin, it’s also exposed to dirt and sun, so it needs to be washed twice a day, and it doesn’t mean you should wash your face with a solid soap to remove dirt and oils, you can use a gentle cleanser to clean your skin without drying it out.
How to choose your cleanser?
Your cleanser preferably contains:
Menthol: To produce a cooling sensation especially after shaving.
Salicylic acid: Cleans out excess oil from pores, and prevents acne and black/ whiteheads.
Glycerin: It helps in skin hydration without clogging pores.
We recommend using Toya facial cleanser for all skin types, which washes, exfoliates, and hydrates your skin in just one wash.
After washing your face, you shouldn’t keep it to air-dry, you can use a clean cotton towel and gently pat your face without rubbing it, as rubbing your face will leave it dry and irritated.
2- Wearing SPF is essential.
You may think that wearing sunscreen is just for beach or sunny summer days, but it’s untrue; your skin needs to be protected from UV light every day, even on cloudy winter days, as UV light can penetrate clouds.
It doesn’t matter when or where you’re going, Dermatologists recommend using sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect your skin from diseases caused by the sun and prevent skin aging.
3- Get rid of Acne.
Acne is a common skin condition that affects both genders in adulthood. However, as we previously said, men’s skin is thicker and more oily, so they tend to have longer-lasting acne than women, and it could be found in areas other than your face, like your back and shoulders.
How to treat it?
First, you should be careful while shaving, as acne can make it harder and painful; try not to shave the tops of pimples off, and if your blade is irritating your skin, try to use an electric one.
Second, you should treat your acne with an acne treatment. We recommend you Toya Acne Treatment lotion, place it on the blemish for 15 minutes twice a day for healthy & pure skin.
4- Take care of the skin around your eyes.
The skin around your eyes produces less oil than your face, which means it dries out quickly and needs to get moisturized. The dryness in this area causes fine lines and dark circles, so you should add an eye cream to your daily skincare routine.
Your eye cream should contain collagen to help reduce the fine lines, vitamin E & C to nourish and whiten the dark circles, and almond oil, caffeine, and shea butter to hydrate.
We recommend Toya eye cream for dark circles; you’ll only need to apply it once before sleeping and wash it in the morning.
5- Avoid Fragrance and alcohol.
Most aftershave products contain alcohol and heavy fragrance, which dries your skin out, leaves it taut, and sometimes burnt.
Use a gentle moisturizer to replace the moisture you lost while shaving and give you smooth skin without irritating it.
6- Grow your facial hair naturally.
If you find it hard to grow your beard, you can provide the healthiest environment for it to grow with these tips:
- Follow the skin care routine we provided for a healthier base to grow your beard.
- Eat a healthy and balanced diet to give your body all its needs of vitamins and minerals to help your facial hair grow.
- Try to avoid stress, as stress causes hair loss.
- Don’t smoke/Stop smoking; it causes damage to the DNA of the hair follicle.
- Use beard growth product that contains natural oils like castor & jojoba and it’s preferred to contain pilocarpine, a drug that promotes hair growth. We recommend Toya beard growth cream that contains these ingredients with other essential oils extracts, use it before sleep for a month, and you’ll see the magic effect.
7- Don’t get overwhelmed.
To many men, starting a skincare routine is intimidating, but let me tell you that you’ll get used to it in just a few days; there’s no perfection in your routine; it’s all about trial and error. Of course, if your skin doesn’t need some of these products, you’re free to choose what’s suitable for you.
If you want to ask about anything concerning your skincare routine, don’t hesitate to ask Toya, and one of our dermatologists’ team will answer all your questions.
